About the Blue Badge Guides:

The Blue Badge (see above) is only awarded to tourist guides who have been rigorously selected, trained and examined. They are professionals, registered with and regulated by the Institute of Tourist Guiding. They are acknowledged as the best in the business.

They entertain, inform and care for our customers, conducting tours in many languages, on foot, by car, coach, minibus, boat and on public transport.

There are Blue Badge Tourist guides in London and throughout the British Isles qualified to conduct tours in their own region. London Guides also cover sites within a day's drive of London.

When time is precious Blue Badge Guides help you make the most of your visit discovering Britain's people, history, hidden treasure, art, traditions and contemporary life. They assist in planning an itinerary and advise on practical issues such as public transport and current events.

And about our name...

The word rebus is a visual pun in which pictures, symbols or letters are used to represent words or syllables. A rebus creates a visual representation of a word or name. It dates from times when illiteracy was the norm. Rebuses were particularly common in heraldry where they were used to identify the king or particular sides fighting a battle!

London Blue Badge Guide profile: Hugh Dickson

Resident in London for 20 years although originally from Lancashire in the northwest. I trained as an agricultural zoologist and an environmental scientist so naturally I went into the wine trade. I specialized in wines from the New World at a time when the UK market for wines from these countries was still embryonic. Having witnessed a wine drinking revolution due to the success of the Australians and Californians etc I moved on to the restaurant business, spending 11 years as a partner in a small, lively, town centre restaurant.

During this period I started leading walking tours through the vineyards of the world and fell in love with the way of life eventually deciding to make a career of it. I therefore undertook the rigorous, but incredibly rewarding, 14 month London Blue Badge Guide training course accredited by the Institute of Tourist Guiding.

London is, undoubtedly, one of the world’s most exciting and dynamic cities. Everything about it from its history to modern daily life is endlessly fascinating. To me, having the opportunity to share my passion and enthusiasm for this city is the perfect career.

Guiding undertaken:
London panoramics, walks, galleries, museums and monuments, day trips from London, driver guiding, up to 6 passengers in a spacious mini van, corporate hospitality work.
Extended tours throughout the UK and Europe. Wine tasting.
